2017 Pantone Quilt Challenge

Do you ever find yourself leaving a quilt store with fabrics in shades of your favorite colors over and over again? It’s a common quilter’s dilemma, loving lots of colors but too often sticking to a cherished few. I hardly know I’m doing it until I get home and I find myself adding to my ever-growing stash of turquoise!

It’s totally understandable. Our favorite colors are the colors that make us happy. They give us a kind of satisfaction unlike other colors. They are comfortable, and appealing, and a lot less difficult than working with colors we don’t like.

At the same time, doing the same thing over and over again can be a little boring. Even as a devoted turquoise-lover, I want to work with new colors that inspire and challenge me as a quilter, that push me to grow, and that result in surprising new creations.

This year’s 2017 Pantone Quilt Challenge sponsored by Bryan House Quilts and No Hats in the House is a great opportunity to do just that. Based on the 2017 Pantone color of the year, Greenery, the challenge invites quilters to create a quilt featuring green.

I love green, and I have a hard time using it. What could be more perfect?  Check out the color below and read more about Pantone’s color of the year.

Running from March 14 until May 29th participants can submit one entry per each of the following three categories: minis, quilts, and just the top. Judges Carolyn Friedlander, Jennifer Sampou, and Christa Watson will take into account the use of Greenery when making their decisions.
